The Mekotek tradition is practice by the Manggu Village in order to celebrate good (dharma) overcoming evil (adharma). The ritual is also believed to prevent catastrophes and bring prosperity.
How it works: The bamboo sticks depicted are carried to the different temples. Everyone then comes together so that all the sticks meet at one point on top. The bravest climb to the tops of the sticks.
The Mekotek tradition will next be performed on September 17th, 2016. Make sure you don’t miss it, as it’s an amazing event to see!
